Tis the Season to be Baking...

This weekend I did some holiday baking.

With the help of this website I quickly selected several recipes that I wanted to try and started my planning. I made the Chocolate Chip Cookies, Snickerdoodles, Seven Layer Cookies, and Peanut Butter Blossoms. All of the cookies were delicious! See the pictures below (sorry, I didn't take any of the chocolate chip cookies, but they looked and tasted the best!).

In addition to holiday baking I also managed to get our decorating and Christmas cards done this weekend. Here's a pic of our manger scene (or as the Dorman kids call it Manger-chine) to show Mom Mangerchine that we are putting our gift from last Christmas to good use (thanks again!). I'll do a post with more information on our holiday cards later this week or early next week once everyone has had a chance to receive them via the mail... I don't want to spoil the surprise!

I just love the holiday season! We haven't been in the stores or bought a single gift yet, but I love the music, decorations, food, reflection, giving, time with family and friends and celebration of our Savior! I especially love traditions. As Jeremy and I are still starting out our lives together we have some traditions that we have already formed, some that we are slowly incorporating into our list and some that may be added years down the road. I now plan to make cookie baking a permanent tradition for years to come. Another tradition that we do every year is attend the Night of a Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens. We've done it the past two years and it's one of our favorite dates ever! Walking around the beautiful gardens all lit up with candles and Christmas lights while we take in some festive holiday music... how enchanting! Another one of our favorite holiday traditions that we've done on Christmas Eve the last two years is go to the Dollar Store with the entire Mangerchine family and everyone buys one gift for everyone present. Then we all go home and exchange our sometimes thoughtful, sometimes tacky, sometimes goofy and sometimes hilarious Dollar Store finds.

And as if this post isn't already hodge-podged enough here's a few pics to throw in from our Thanksgiving celebration that was filled with good food and good conversation.

What are your favorite holiday traditions? Favorite songs? Movies? What foods do you love to enjoy every holiday season? What do you enjoy most about the holidays?
